UDS STUDENTS WANT SANITATION CRISIS SOLVED.

Students from the University for development studies (UDS), Nyankapala campus have called in management of the institution to put in measures to stop poor Sanitation situations on Campus.

According to the students is about time management set rules and regulations to hold students accountable if campus is not kept neat.

To them [students], management have done their part in keeping the campus clean. It is now the duty of students to make sure the measures (waste bins) put in place by management are utilised.

" Management and the SRC have done thier part by providing waste bins at vantage points on campus. The root cause of poor sanitation on campus is the behavior of students"

Speaking to the SRC vice secretary, Miss Marcellina, she expressed that bad habits among students towards the environment  is becoming a norm and something has to be done before it is too late.

Quoting from the bible, she mentioned, "Cleanliness is next to Godliness".

"So, if students claim to be children of God and keep their surroundings dirty then I don't see the essence of them going to church", She added.

A visit to the campus saw waste bins placed at vantage points.

However, with waste bins available and placed at vantage points, the campus was littered.

Students who were present during our visit called on colleague students to help keep the campus clean.

Adding that, " if the campus is clean, we will stay healthy and strong. We should equally help the SRC and management to keep the campus clean".

  1. How many dust bins do we have on campus at vantage points that you are suggesting mgt and src have done their part?
l do agree that students have to play their part in keeping the environment clean but are the measures in place ensuring that? sometimes the dust bins will get full but will not be emptied on time. These local children will come hunting for bottles and will litter the whole place again.
